The philosophical orientation of this homepage is Christian and Biblical, radically so; that is, a sincere effort is made to take the Sacred Text seriously. The director holds a PhD in linguistics, which leads him to respect the norms of language—he understands that the fundamental principle of communication is this: there must be someone to speak or write and someone to hear or read, and both must respect the norms of the code (language) they are using. When the encoder breaks the rules, knowingly, he is trying to deceive the decoder—it is a way of lying. When the decoder breaks the rules, knowingly, it is also a way of lying, and it can have the effect of attributing deceitfulness to the encoder. To disrespect the norms of language (Hebrew and Greek, in this case) while interpreting the Bible is to say that the Author wrote deceitfully, to accuse Him of lying to us. Judging by texts like Titus 1:2, "God cannot lie," I very much doubt that God will take lightly any such initiative on our part.

It is precisely for this reason that we try to handle the Sacred Text with rigorous respect. To anger the Creator is not smart. Many readers may feel that we are a bit too radical. We do not apologize for being radical—it is our way of respecting the Creator of this universe. Recall that He is the Judge to whom we must give an accounting, all of us.

Given our philosophical orientation we understand that Jehovah the Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, is about to return to this planet. I don’t know the day nor the hour, but if He delays beyond the year 2000 our world will be quite different than it is at this writing (April, 1998). [We are now into 2001 and the spirit of Antichrist is already very strong in the world, and getting stronger.] It is high time to stop and think about the direction of your life, especially if you consider yourself to be a sincere follower of Jesus Christ. Do your priorities really line up with His? And how well are you going to do at the judgment?

The "menu" that follows offers a variety of articles. They are designed to challenge, encourage, inform, help, give orientation, in short to shed light on life’s path. I place no restriction on the use and reproduction of these articles, except that they may not be sold or commercialized—they remain the literary property of the author. At the moment some articles exist only in English, others only in Portuguese—I intend to make all the material available in both languages, but it may take a while. I may add that I hope to be constantly adding new material, so the interested reader may wish to check back from time to time. And if you like what you see, tell your friends.

I greet you all in the name of the Creator and legitimate Sovereign of this world, the Lord Jesus Christ.
